DIY Tassel Garland

Tassel Garland’s are one of my favorite ways to decorate for parties, holidays, and everything in between.  I am just tired of paying for them so I decided it was time to find out how to make them.  This tutorial was super helpful and I was surprised how easy it was to make one. Best part is it cost me around $8 compared to the $40-$50 I’ve paid in the past.

Take one piece of tissue paper, fold it lengthwise, then widthwise, and  widthwise once again. One piece of tissue paper will make 4 tassels. Cut little strips leaving 2 inches at the top.  I used these Rotary Cutters because I can’t cut a straight line to save my life.

After cutting the little strips unfold the tissue paper. Cut the paper down the middle and unfold. At this point cut down the middle once again and you will have 2 separate pieces of fringed tissue.  Go ahead and plug in your hot glue gun.

Take one piece of the fringed tissue and roll toward the center. Be careful not to get the fringes tangled.   After you’ve finishing rolling twist the middle part of the tissue that isn’t fringed.

After twisting,  take the tassel and fold it in half twisting the sides in opposite directions until it makes a little loop at the top.  Here you’ll want to put a dab of glue and hold together for a few seconds.  Make sure you make your loop large enough to fit through the twine you’re using .

After string your tassels on twine and hang in your favorite spot.
