The Fall Edit

This year I am doing something a little different when it comes to my Fall wardrobe. I am investing in 20 key pieces only that I plan on using from Fall until Spring. 20 pieces may sound like a lot, but for someone who likes to shop this was a difficult task to pick out only 20. Last year I spent way too much on pieces that were more trendy and not as versatile. I am also tired of buying 5 white long sleeve tees because 4 of them shrunk too much or were too see through. If I can just invest in one that is a little more but will last then that’s worth it to me. Some of these items are pricey but that’s why they are called investment pieces. Each of these items can be worn for work or play and will go well with items I already have in my closet.  I already know for special occasions like family pictures and holidays I will probably want something with a little more color but other than that I am hoping these pieces will hold me over until Spring. This will be a big test for me and I am anxious to see how it goes but only time will tell. A few of these items I have already purchased and the other items are ones I am currently on the lookout for or looking for something similar.

J. CREW Blazer: A blazer is always my go to wardrobe piece. It can be dressed up or down and will never go out of style. I just picked up this one that is going to be perfect with skinny jeans and boots.  J. CREW has 25% off all full prices styles with code SHOPFORFALL right now.

Tory Burch Vanessa Flat: Last year I wanted to purchase a fun flat I could wear during the holidays and for work but never got around to doing that. This year I purchased these flats to make up for that. I am also loving these and these.

Alexander Wang Stripe Tee: An essential top everyone should have in their closet. You can never go wrong with stripes. Also love this one and this one.

Madewell Sweater: Cableknit sweaters are my favorite to wear as there’s something about a classic cream cableknit that is so perfect.

J. CREW Fedora: This Summer I loved my Panama Hat(s) and am going into Fall and Winter with this one and also this one from Nordstrom.

Banana Republic Earrings: This Fall I am craving simple yet elegant jewelry pieces. These earrings are a perfect price and ones I can use daily.

Loeffler Randall Boot: I haven’t purchased a brown boot for about 3 years now. It’s time to invest in a classic pair that will last for years. I also love these and these.

Madewell Vest: I haven’t seen this in person actually but I am loving the look and the idea of this long vest. I can wear it for work with some black trousers and on the weekend with jeans.  Plus, right now MADEWELL is having an amazing sale in store and online.  You can save either 20 or 30% off your total with code WINWIN.

J. CREW Silk Top: Every closet needs at least one silk top for that special occasion or just to wear on the weekend for dinner.

Vince Wool Coat: This coat has been on the top of my list for a while now but after seeing this one from BR last week at half the price I picked it up instead and it’s amazing. I highly recommend getting this coat TODAY because it will sell out FAST.

J. CREW Turner Pant: I LOVE these pants and can’t recommend them enough. You can see more about these pants here.

Everlane Cashmere Sweater: Ironically enough my closet contains no Cashmere. This year I plan to take care of that by having a nice piece I can wear for years.

Helmut Lang Hooded Cardigan: The hubby actually bought me this for my birthday and it’s absolutely perfect.

Rag and Bone Classic Newbury: I picked these up at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale but would also like a pair of these in brown or black.

Madewell Long Sleeve Plaid: Plaid can be tricky and look either really cute or really bad. I am pretty picky about plaid and usually only stick to one plaid shirt a season.  Also loving this one and this one.

Helmut Lang Long Sleeve Tee: For years I have literally searched for the perfect white tee and finally found it with this Helmut Lang. It’s loose, made of quality material where it won’t shrink after the first wash and isn’t see through. I am very excited about this tee for Fall underneath cardigans, jackets, and even by itself.

Madewell High Riser: Thankfully high rise has come back around again and I am loving Madewell Denim right now. It’s quickly become my go to spot for all my denim needs. I also love these from J.CREW as well.

Cuyana Scarf: I purchased this one from Zara and this one from J. CREW, but love the look of this neutral scarf.

Tory Burch Robinson Mini Tote:  I haven’t purchased a new black tote in years and am craving one with sleek lines, classic style, and is timeless. I also love the idea of this tote and having it monogrammed.

J. CREW Endless Top: The perfect collared top to wear under sweaters or by itself with pumps and a leopard clutch like this one.

What’s on your Fall must haves? Have a great weekend.

  • What a great idea! And I am going to tell my husband that I’m “investing” every time I hit the stores… maybe he will stop rolling his eyes at me?! 😉 haha!

  • I work within a budget ($300) each month, but I also like this idea of having a set number of pieces. You’ll have to keep us updated on how it goes! I’m currently on the lookout for a great cream cable knit. I’ll have to check out this Madewell one!

    • Yes, I’ll let you know how it goes. It’s going to be tricky but I like the idea of a set budget every month! Definitely check out the Madewell as I think it’s still on sale!
