I am so sorry for the radio silence around here and being MIA but I have had a major lack of inspiration over the last few months. I am not sure if it’s because of the 100 degree weather, the fact that we are still trying to settle into the house, or the fact that London has been going to her old day care and it’s 40 minutes each way every day. It’s probably a combination of all of these things but I am the type of person that lives off inspiration, being creative, and pretty spaces. When I don’t have all of these things I tend to bottle up and am probably not the most pleasant person to be around. I decided on Friday that I couldn’t take it anymore and needed a weekend full of finding inspiration. So, thankfully my husband completely agreed this needed to happen and we planned a few days of fun around our neighborhood. Friday night we started at some friends house to celebrate his birthday with champagne and amazing deserts from André’s. Saturday we walked to a local bakery where I had the most amazing jalapeno and goat cheese scone followed by some more walking around the neighborhood and discovering a few cute shops. I also decided to pull out all my coffee table books that have still been in boxes because we have nowhere to put them at the moment. In our old house the hubs had built these beautiful IKEA bookcases but we don’t have anything like that in the new house. Just pulling those books out and putting some of our artwork together with the books made me so excited. It was almost as if the inspiration starting immediately coming to me. Sunday we decided to start the day at the Nelson Atkins  where we spent over 3 1/2 hours. We had originally thought we’d be there maybe and hour but we ended up having the best time looking at all the art, having lunch, and letting London walk around taking pictures. Yes, she actually took pictures with the hubs phone and even took this first picture of me at the top left. That’s why I am  laughing because we were trying to tell her how to take the picture. The weekend ended up being exactly what I needed for a little refresher and to bring in some inspiration finally. It also helped that it was actually cooler and felt a little like Fall. Sometimes, you just need time to take it all in and appreciate the beauty around you.
