A few weeks ago I went in search of a healthier version of ranch. I had cut up some fresh veggies and wanted a little spice to go with them, but didn’t want to use the actual Ranch dressing that was in the refrigerator. I came across this one from one of my trusted food websites I love and it’s just perfect. The natural spices combined with the greek yogurt give a wonderful ranch flavor but with half the calories as regular ranch dressing. I used more ranch flavor with the yogurt than what the original recipe calls for, but that’s the beauty. You can add or take away as much ranch flavor as you’d like and the store it for several more days.  Even the hubby gave his approval but did say he wouldn’t use this on a salad as a dressing, but prefers it more for cut up veggies and pretzels.

HEALTHY RANCH DIP 

INGREDIENTS

2 tablespoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried dill
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon pepper

Sour cream, for serving

DIRECTIONS

1. Mix together the first six ingredients down to the pepper. Store in an airtight container.

2.When you are ready to make the dip stir 1 tablespoon of the spice mixture together with ½ cup sour cream. Serve with fresh sliced veggies or whole-wheat pretzels. (I used almost 2 tablespoons for a bolder taste).

3.Save the remaining dry spice mixture in spice cabinet or pantry for another day.
