You might have noticed or maybe you haven’t that I’ve stayed off social media for the past couple of weeks. I have a love hate relationship with social media and I am specifically talking about Instagram. When Instagram first came out it was so exciting and inspirational and original. Now, it’s the same, same, and more of the same. On the other hand, I love everything visual about Instagram, I am a very visual creative person so images are what move me. But, I was scrolling through my feed the other day and noticed that every fashion blogger had on the same cardigan, the same jeans, the same wavy hair, and were all carrying the same Chloe bag. First of all, how in the hell are you 22 years old, and carrying a Chloe bag along with a Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel? I know that’s besides the point but Instagram is lacking a serious content of originality. Or, have we as humans become so Stepford Wives that we have no idea how to be original anymore? Don’t get me wrong, I am sure I fall right into this category because again I love Instagram, so there are things I will see on there that I have to have that minute. But, at the end of the day I wouldn’t ever buy anything that wasn’t “me” or do something just because someone else thinks it’s cool. I had a conversation with a good friend the other day who mentioned it’s all “wasted fashion” at this point. And, that is such a true statement. What happened to investing in nice pieces and having a few good staple wardrobe items. Now, it’s a new trend every single day and it’s so unappealing. I read an article recently that discussed how social media will eventually move back to more organic live posting as people will start to demand more authenticity, I hope this is actually true. I love a well curated feed as much as the next person but I can’t stand seeing the same pictures over and over. Is anyone else feeling this way or is it just me? We are heading to Chicago this weekend to visit some friends and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ll be back next week with some of our San Francisco pictures and things I am loving for Fall but just had to get this off my mind. Thanks for listening and have a great weekend.
Whenever traveling I always want to make sure what I am wearing is functional, comfortable, and can easily be used for several other different outfits during my trip. This last trip was no exception and I knew that when we landed in San Francisco the weather would be a little cool. We also had a layover in Vegas and were changing planes so I needed to be sure the shoes I was wearing were comfortable enough to walk plenty of miles. I decided to go with these leggings from Athleta which are uber comfortable. Truth be known, I can’t stand leggings. For some reason I just have this thought in my mind about leggings so I’ve always stayed away from them. I won’t be galavanting all around town in them, but for traveling they are perfect. Usually, I would wear flats for traveling when having to deal with security, but since we’d be doing a lot of walking I decided to go with Stan Smith, which are very comfortable for all day use. When I was in Athleta, I also picked up this cashmere top which I wore later in the day with jeans and these kitten heels. I packed a few jackets such as this leather one and then wore this Madewell one on the plane, this is one of the most versatile jackets I own. It pretty much goes with anything, is warm enough, and is a perfect transitional jacket. Lastly, my go to bag when traveling is this Longchamp Le Pliage in the large. This bag is lightweight but holds a lot, I had a book, magazine, wallet, lipstick pouch, sunglasses, scarf, and a small handbag and it fit everything comfortably. It’s also water resistant and nylon so I don’t have to worry about it getting dirty on the plane. This is probably one of my most favorite bags I own because of all these reasons plus I don’t feel like I am breaking the bank when carrying it around. I would have all the colors if I could.
We returned home from our vacation this weekend and Fall is officially upon us. There’s a chill in the air in the mornings, the leaves are already covering our backyard, and I couldn’t be happier. I have started to appreciate Fall more and more over the past several years maybe because my love of hot and humid weather is starting to diminish. I love the thought of cozy cardigans, booties, the smell of pumpkin candles filling the house, and of course decorating for the holidays. It’s also a time for a wardrobe refresh and this year I have been obsessed with menswear inspired blazers, denim, saddle bags, mules, and anything by Sezane. We’ve also created a little bucket list we want to accomplish and this weekend we took advantage of apple picking, carving out a few pumpkins, and baking apple pie. London also picked out her Halloween costume this weekend as well. I spent some time yesterday morning looking through Pinterest at all the Fall inspiration and couldn’t help but put together this mood board. You can follow all things I am loving for Fall on my Pinterest page here and I also updated my Fall current favorites.
I have been watching the weather like crazy for the past month to determine what I would bring to San Fransisco. It’s been in the 70s during the day and 60s in the evening, perfect weather for bringing some Fall attire. Napa however is a different story, it’s in the 80s and 90s which honestly is a little disappointing. I was really hoping for all Fall this entire trip but obviously that won’t spoil the fun. Packing has been a bit of a challenge though because I have had to pack a little Fall plus Summer attire to cover both parts of the trip. A few things I picked up for the trip were these bow mules and these satin mules. During the day I am planning on this Madewell black blazer with a tank underneath, jeans, and a pair of the mules. I am also taking this skirt and leather jacket for walking around. For the evening one night we are going out for our anniversary and I was planning on this Banana Republic black jumpsuit with pumps. For Napa I packed this Madewell dress and came across this skirt from J.CREW before it sold out. I am also taking lots of layering pieces, pair of tennis shoes, and one more pair of mules. I always pack way more than I ever needs and I am sure this trip is no exception. Just hoping my choices will be what I am needing but of course I can always shop there if not.
