I’ve been shopping at J.CREW now for years and it’s definitely been one of my main go to stores whenever I’ve needed or wanted something. I have found everything there over the years, jeans, sweaters, graphic tees, and lots and lots of shoes. Toward the end of last year I picked up an item from there that I never thought I would buy, a white bodysuit. I’ve always complained about tucking my button down shirts into my jeans and how it looks too bulky, or the shirt doesn’t stay tucked in, or it’s just uncomfortable. I probably debated about this bodysuit for a good 6 months before I decided to purchase it and then one day it was on promotion for 30% off so I decided to try it out. I am so glad I pulled the trigger as this has easily become one of my favorite J.CREW buys ever. It’s that classic and the bodysuit is so comfortable that I never have to worry about raising my hand and having my shirt come out of my jeans. Obviously, there’s the downfall of having to use the restroom in a bodysuit but it honestly hasn’t bothered me at all. I love this item so much that I am considering this stripe one and this chambray one as well. Mostly, I’ve worn it with jeans but in the Spring I will be wearing it more with cropped pants for work and even a denim skirt. What do you think? I’d love to know if you’re a fan of the body suit at all.
Sometimes all it takes is one picture to start the inspiration coming through and this picture was the one for me. I told you that I am headed to NYC next month with my friend Sara and we have been busy discussing our itinerary and pinning where we want to go. Sara pinned this picture last week and I fell in love instantly. I don’t know if it’s the color scheme or the name of the bakery but I can’t wait to check this place out. This picture also immediately inspired this outfit and I have been busy thinking of what I am packing for the trip. I am so happy polka dots are back this season, this is one trend I have always loved. I can honestly still remember a favorite navy polka dot shirt I bought from the GAP in high school. As soon as I saw this green one from Mango, I knew it would be perfect. I’ve been looking for some denim that was a little cropped and had a heavy flare and these from H&M are exactly what I wanted. I will say they do run small, I ordered the next size up so they weren’t too snug. White shoes are big for Spring as well and although I wouldn’t normally wear this color of shoe, I am loving it right now. There are so many great options but I really like the idea of a white pump to go with jeans and dresses. This Nine West pair from Nordstrom is true to size with a pointed toe and the heel is a great height. For two years now I’ve been looking for a pair of sunglasses that I love and still haven’t found anything, I even looked when we went to San Francisco back in September. My black Celine are really one of my favorite pairs I’ve ever owned so I am thinking of maybe buying those in brown and being done with the search. Mansur Gavriel just released their bags for Spring last week and I am obsessing over this top handle one. It reminds me of a classic lady bag and something Jackie O would carry, I just love the sophistication and simplicity of the bag.
While I am still wearing my boots most of the days here in the Midwest I am desperately daydreaming of shoes for Spring. My feet are screaming to be free and open toe, mules, sling backs, chic sneakers, and pumps are all I can think of at this point. I am loving so many styles for Spring that are popping up everywhere and I can’t stop obsessing over anything White for some reason. Mango has some amazing designs right now and I have at least 5 pairs in my cart, this strappy heel which is Grey oddly enough, but I can see this being a staple with dresses, skirts, and jeans. I also love the color of these knot velvet sling backs, and the heel of these white pumps. Everlane came out with their version of the woman’s answer to all day pumps and these are definitely on my wish list. Being that I am on my feet all day I’d love to see if these live up to their name of the Day Heel. The debate is still out on these Gucci Loafers obviously because of the price however every review I’ve read says they are worth the investment. I’ve been looking for a pair of sneakers for several months now that just knocked me off my socks but have yet to find something I want to pull the trigger on although I have a few in mind. This white pair is so basic yet that’s why I love them but the logo is written in gold to add a little chic touch and the brand is from Paris which of course always sells me. This J. CREW pair is also in the running due to the design and color scheme. Last but certainly not least of course are the shoes from Zara right now, like these striped kitten heels, these Chanel knock offs that I am wearing in the picture above, and these ballerinas.
I’ve really been working on trying to clean out my closet lately and weed out the items that I’ve only worn once or actually haven’t even worn at all. I feel like I’ve been working on this for over a year now but lately I’ve been tossing out more than normal and going back to the basics. I pulled out this black blazer a few weekends back for a lunch and now it’s been on constant rotation and I wondered why I haven’t been wearing it more often. A black blazer is an essential piece for every wardrobe and goes with anything, a tank, a stripped top, or a graphic tee. I purchased this blazer last year from Madewell when I wanted a longer version than my J.CREW Regent Blazer. I also loved the look of having a blazer without a collar, it seems a little more casual yet still polished. I put my favorite tank underneath it and by the way if you are in need of a basic black tank you need this one. I bought it at Anthropologie last year and can’t say enough good things about the way it wears and washes. The other piece I love about a good black blazer are the bottoms you can wear with it at anytime. A good pair of denim always goes well but what about these trousers or these faux leather leggings. I finished the look off with my new favorite pair of pumps from Zara, which are under $50 and extremely comfortable but obviously you can go with any shoes to complete the look. When Shanley and I were out shooting this day we came across this new hotel in downtown Kansas City with this amazing swanky bar called Dott Boss. The atmosphere was incredible complete with red velvet couches and chic Parisian vibes.
Has anyone seen the new Spring line at Zara right now? OMG. It’s honestly too good for it’s own good. I go in spurts with Zara, sometimes I love everything they have and other times it’s too much for me. It’s one of those stores however that you can buy classic pieces for an affordable price. Zara is my go to for all things tweed, meaning Chanel look alike, but without the price tag. Right now, I have this tweed jacket and this one both in my cart, and I just added this one also. Polk a dots are big for Spring this year and this black blazer comes with the scarf attached so you get two for one. Basket bags will be big again this season and I love this one, this black one, and this circle one. There’s also several trendier bags I have my eye on like this mother of pearl, this blush backpack, and this belt bag. Last year’s Chanel knock off pump was a sell out so they brought back another version this year that’s classy and comfortable. I purchased these already and they run about half a size small but are worth the price because you can wear them with anything. I’ve already worn them for work plus with jeans this last weekend to go out. I also love these striped ones with a hint of pink and these gingham mid heel as well as these beaded ballerinas.
