Our Weekend Plus What I Wore

We had the best little weekend and are actually still in recovery mode I think.  Every one of us is so exhausted.  I got up at 5:15 this morning to go work out, came downstairs to put on my shoes, sat on the couch and slept right through class. Oops!  It was finally so nice outside so we wanted to make the most of being outdoors all weekend. Friday night we started with cocktails and a cheese plate on the deck.  This is one of our most absolute favorite things to do when the weather is nice out. The only bad thing is our deck gets full sun in the afternoon so we had to pile on the sunscreen at 5pm.  I am hoping at some point to put up a pergola to help give it a little shade.  But, until then we cocktail on.

Saturday I spent the afternoon visiting the cutest little guy.  One of my girl friends gave birth Friday to her second child Reid, and he is so tiny and darling. I forget how small babies are but wow was he precious, and he was born on his sister’s birthday of all things.  How freaking fun is that! I already can’t wait for their birthday parties.

Sunday was the best day ever with my loves and a wonderful Mother’s Day.  We started the morning at my absolute favorite restaurant in Kansas City for chocolate croissants, coffee, and a little people watching. London is so funny these days.  She will just go up to random people, smile at them, wave,  and walk away leaving them speechless.  The restaurant is in one of my favorite parts of the city so we just hung out for a few hours on the patio and walking around the little shops.

wiw1I didn’t feel like getting completely dressed up so I threw on these J. CREW Drapey Pants which I’ve shown before here. Still on the graphic tee bandwagon so of course I wore this one, and then a denim shirt to tie it all together.  I am also obsessed with my Target dollar bin panama hat. Best $3 I’ve ever spent!

After breakfast we headed home for naps.  Yes, we all took a nap and it was the best thing to happen since sliced bread!  I mean that never happens. That afternoon after we were all rested we headed to Prairie Fire, a new entertainment district that just opened up.  First on the list was eating again so we headed to a new restaurant that had a very extensive beer menu.  The hubs and I were so excited because they had German beer and pretzels so of course it’s going to become a favorite place now.

After we got home we decided to take a walk since all we had done all day was basically stuff our face.  I think we wore poor London out though because halfway through the walk she fell asleep.

These are the absolute best weekends! We are headed out on vacation later this week so back to packing and trying to stuff all my clothes into one suitcase.

Thanks for Reading. XOXO.

LOVE that hat! I want one. I think we are going to Prairie Fire Sunday with my in laws. Any kid friendly restaurants that you would recommend??

Oh it’s so fun! It will be really great once everything is open. We went to Rock and Brews, I think there’s only 2-3 restaurants open right now. It was really fun and I would say kid friendly for sure. They have a good variety on the menu and the food was tasty too. Yea, I can’t believe this $3 hat is the best one I’ve found.

  • Great target find on that $3 hat! I haven’t checked out Prairie Fire yet, but I’m planning on getting over there soon!

Thanks Jana! Yes, you must get over there for sure. I can’t wait until it’s all open! Such a fun place in little ol’ Overland Park:)

Sounds like an awesome weekend of fun together! Have a wonderful vacation! Yes packing into one suitcase is a bit tricky – use those vac bags to compress the clothes – that’s my trick for our trip when we leave next Monday however it doesn’t help out on the weight limit. Can’t wait to see pics from your trip.

Wow! You leave next Monday. I can’t wait to see your pics!

  • That croissant looks yummy!!! And I too need to check out Prairie Fire!

Noelani…just curious: what kind of cocktails did you drink with the bread and cheese?? 🙂 Always looking for new options….

I make a cocktail called Orange Creamsicle and it’s amazing and delicious. Basically, cake Vodka with Diet Sunkist. I crush up ice and mix with the vodka and sunkist and it’s a little frozen piece of heaven.
