January through March are always the hardest months I think to want to love your closet. The weather can be cold, rainy and very grey depending on where you live. If you’re lucky enough to live somewhere warm then this probably isn’t such a problem but living in the Midwest, I dread this time of year. I am over my Winter clothes but it’s still too cold to buy anything new for Spring. I rely a lot on my basic transition pieces over and over during this time. Those pieces which are classic, never go out of style, but can carry you from season to season without feeling like you need to invest in a new wardrobe for three months. Some of my favorites are always a basic trench and a great way to invest in a new trench that is more Spring is buy a fun color, like this blush one, you’ll still wear this over and over. Another great jacket is always a utility jacket, I can’t tell you how much I wear this on the weekend. I throw it over a stripped or graphic tee, great pair of denim, and go. You could also pull off the denim on denim look by wearing this jacket to break up the monochromatic look. For shoes, booties are still a great option and I love the look of these lowcut ones from Madewell or these pumps from Everlane. Sweaters still play a big part but you can always choose some options with softer colors like this cashmere one or this open front sweater from J. Crew which I wear all the time as well.  I also like to pull out my go to bag during this time which is the transport tote, this is one of those bags if you don’t have, you should invest in one. I’d love to know what your favorite transition pieces are now.
